Surkhet – The Nepal Army has initiated a rescue operation for six Indian tourists trapped in the snow in Shey-Phoksundo, Dolpa. The rescue, involving a Nepal Army helicopter, is being carried out for the six Indian tourists who became stranded at Danigarh—located in Ward No. 8 of Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality, Dolpa—due to heavy snowfall.

Junu Hamal Dhakal, the Chief District Officer of Dolpa, stated that information has been received regarding a group of Indian tourists—who were traveling to Upper Dolpa after visiting Shey-Phoksundo Lake—becoming stranded in Danigadh due to heavy snowfall over the past few days. She identified the stranded individuals as Momita Haldar, Piyali Kole, Jajala Trivd Kumar, Aditya Singh, Diplina Biswas, and Rajesh D.
“Rescue operations have begun using a Nepal Army helicopter. It has not been possible to establish phone contact because there is no network coverage where the tourists are stranded,” she said. “They are, however, in touch with the Army personnel deployed to secure Shey-Phoksundo National Park.” According to her, although all trekkers had been prohibited from traveling to Upper Dolpa since the 12th of Kartik, they defied the restriction and proceeded there anyway.
